Our Medical Magnet Program proudly boasts one of the best nursing programs in Florida and has been serving students since 1992. More than 375 students have attended the Medical program each year. We offer students an in-depth study of medicine and science. Hands-on health care experiences and internships in medical facilities. The goals are to develop specific career-related skills and encourage students to pursue medical and allied health professions.
SUMMER OUTREACH PROGRAMS
Students may apply to participate in a number of University of Miami and the Miller School of Medicine or Medicine Summer Outreach Programs.
- SSEP (Summer Science Enrichment Program. University of Miami Main Campus in Coral Gables, Florida - a seven week program for students entering grade 10. Through the Princeton Review Organization, students are tutored in techniques designed to improve their scores on standardized tests, including the SAT, ACT, and MCAT.
- STIR (Student Training in Research). University of Miami Medical School - a seven week laboratory research program for students entering grade 11. Students conduct laboratory research under the guidance of a senior scientist.
- HSCMW (High School Careers in Medicine Workshop). University of Miami Medical School - a seven week pre-medical program for students entering grade 12. Students study selected pre-medical topics such as molecular biology, gross anatomy, laboratory techniques, specialized computer programs and college level composition and literature.
